Simple Recipes - Beginner Level : Hash Brown

When you're married, but you know nothing about cooking, except to make some spaghetti, somehow someday -- you'll get it.

The urge just comes from having bored with the same instant spaghetti everyday. Seriously.

So, here is one beginner (wife) level recipe that I am now confident enough in making without having to peek to the recipes all the time.

I hope this works well for you too.

Hash Brown

Ingredients:
  • Large size potato
  • 1 shallot (or more, or onion, your preference)
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tbs all purpose flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • dash of crushed coriander and garlic powder (optional)
  • oil to fry
How to:
  1. grate potato into thin slices, soak in cold water for 20 minutes
  2. drain potato slices, squeeze all the water out using a clean table cloth
  3. grate shallot, mix with the potato
  4. add egg white, and flour, salt and pepper, mix it well
  5. fry in a preheated oil, medium heat for 4 mins each side or until it's golden brown.
Result:

somehow like this:

ignore the visual, this actually taste good (self defense mode : on)
